Lose Fat Tummy - Why Losing Weight Is Good For You

There are great benefits to be acquired from losing weight. The process is never easy it requires determination and discipline but the rewards in health benefits alone are huge,

Let us take a look at some of the benefits that can accrue when we achieve a weight reduction.

Excess weight can contribute to high blood pressure, heart disease and strokes.

Here is a triple benefit from losing weight. Medical evidence shows that heart disease and stroke are primary reasons for disability and death in both men and women in the US and obesity can be a contributing factor. Losing weight has proven to lower these risks.

Again medical research tells us that by decreasing your weight by a mere five to ten percent could positively decrease the chances of you having or developing heart disease or a stroke.

Weight loss can reduce the risks of diabetes. Diabetes is a complex disease and I would not suggest that losing weight is a cure but sufferers will definitely lead a better quality of life and be better equipped to combat the disease by shedding those excess pounds.

Weight loss can reduce sleep apnoea. This is a condition wherein one could temporarily stop breathing for a brief period and then would continue to snore heavily. Sleep apnoea could cause drowsiness or sleepiness during the day and – because of being overweight – could result in heart failure. Shedding those excess pounds could help in eliminating this problem. An extract from Wikipedia tells us “The risk of obstructive sleep apnoea rises with increasing body weight and some of the treatments involved include losing body weight.”

Weight loss reduces the pain of osteoarthritis. When one is carrying excessive weight the load exerted on your hips, knees and lower back is far greater than your body was designed to carry and the older we get the likelihood greatly increases that osteoarthritis will set in. The younger we are the easier it is to lose weight so if you are in your early years make it your mantra to keep your weight to a reasonable level and be kind to your joints.

If you are not so young take steps now to get your weight down, begin slowly if you wish but gradually build momentum until that optimum weight has been achieved.

Being overweight reduces your quality of life, reduce your food intake, eat nutritious foods, take exercise and stay hydrated.

My best wishes to you for a healthy life.
